De Nederlandse overheid heeft GroenGelinkt voorgedragen als nationale inzending voor de UNESCO Japan Prize on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). Deze prijs is bedoeld voor buitengewone projecten en programma’s voor Leren voor duurzame ontwikkeling.
GroenGelinkt is erg trots dat ze deze nominatie mag ontvangen. Uit de aanbevelingsbrief van het Ministerie van OC&W:
“On the one hand it supports schools and teachers to implement ESD in their curricula, on the other hand it brings stakeholders together in joint action for ESD. In doing so GroenGelinkt supports several ESD objectives at the same time: assistance of teachers, implementation of good practices, support of ESD-policy, improving quality, enhance the participation of various actors, which are important objectives under the Decade and now under UNESCO's Global Action Plan for ESD.
Through GroenGelinkt the Netherlands don't support the nomination of one single education project, but we support all our ESD projects and efforts together, in an innovative way of cooperation. We are proud of this innovative and inclusive way of working together.”
De prijs wordt dit jaar voor het eerst toegekend en wordt mogelijk gemaakt door de overheid van Japan. De prijs bestaat uit drie jaarlijkse awards van $ 50.000 voor elke ontvanger. September 2015 zullen de prijswinnaars bekend worden gemaakt.
